Getting started
Goldlet has three tabs: Market, Calculator, and Settings. The Market tab shows the spot price and a karat breakdown. The Calculator tab turns weight, karat and country into a local-currency quote. The Settings tab is where you pick your language and default country.
How do I update the spot price?
Open the Market tab and tap the circular refresh button at the top right of the spot-price card. Goldlet fetches the latest USD spot price and recalculates every karat row instantly.
Free users get 3 manual refreshes per day. The small orange badge on the refresh button shows how many are left (3 → 2 → 1). Once you've used all three, the button flips to a gold lock and tapping it opens the Pro upgrade sheet. The quota resets automatically at 12:00 AM local time.
Goldlet Pro removes the daily cap — refresh as many times as you want.
What does Goldlet Pro include?
- Unlimited live-price refreshes — no daily 3-times cap.
- Save receipts — every calculation can be saved with the shop's name attached.
- Share receipts as images — a polished card you can send on WhatsApp, iMessage, email, etc.
- Receipt history — searchable, reorderable, with one-tap delete and detail view.
Available as a monthly auto-renewing subscription (AED 2.99/mo, 3-day free trial) or a yearly subscription (AED 24.99/yr, 7-day free trial — save 30% vs paying monthly). Prices shown in AED; Apple converts automatically in other regions.
Where do the per-country prices come from?
Goldlet starts from the live spot price (fetched from a public market data feed), converts it into the local currency using a built-in exchange rate, then applies the workmanship and VAT conventions typical of that market. Country-specific reference sources are listed at the bottom of the Daily Price Updates card (LBMA, COMEX, DMCC, Saudi Gold & Jewellery Association, MCX India, Tanaka Kikinzoku and more).
How many countries are supported?
123 countries at last count — every Arab market, all of the EU, the US, UK, Switzerland, India, Pakistan, Türkiye, Japan, Korea, Brazil, South Africa, Australia and dozens more. Each country has its own currency, VAT rate, workmanship convention and update schedule baked in. Pick yours from Settings → Country.
How does Save Receipt and the history work?
After tapping Calculate, Pro users see Save and Share Receipt buttons under the receipt card. Save stores it in a local history you can open from Settings → Pro Active → Receipt History or directly from the Calculator's Receipt History link.
Tap any saved receipt to open the full detail card. You can attach the shop's name there, edit it later, share the whole receipt as an image, or delete the entry. The list supports swipe-to-delete and drag-to-reorder.
What's the difference between per-gram and percentage workmanship?
Most Gulf markets charge a fixed fee per gram for the craftsmanship of the piece, regardless of the gold's value. Levant and Maghreb markets more often charge a percentage of the gold value. A few markets use both. The calculator labels which method is in use for your selected country.
Why is the total different from what my jeweller quoted?
Three reasons typically explain the gap:
- The spot price moved since you last updated it.
- The jeweller charges a different workmanship rate (designer pieces are higher).
- VAT treatment can vary between investment-grade gold (often exempt) and jewellery.
Use Goldlet to sanity-check a quote, not to replace one.
Can I switch the app to Arabic?
Yes. Open Settings → Language and pick العربية. The whole interface, including the tab bar and number formatting, switches to a right-to-left layout.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only for refreshing the live spot price. The calculator itself works fully offline using the last known spot price stored on your device. Free users get 3 refreshes per day; Pro is unlimited.
Does Goldlet store my data?
Only your preferences (language, country, last spot price) are saved locally on your device so the app remembers them between launches. Nothing is sent off device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
